Your Only Problem Is Your Own Mind

18kxdi8an8yyzjpgWhere does fear exist? Does it have any physical existence, can you hold it in your hand? Same with judgment, where does that exist? How about hatred, jealousy, all the negative emotions? Where do all these things “exist”? Are not all these things the cause of enormous pain and suffering for people? It seems understanding the nature of their existence is extremely important.
The answer is obvious, they exist in the mind, and they have no existence outside of the mind. You may see things like violence happening around you, which is an expression of anger, but violence isn’t anger itself. You may see the expressions of negative emotions happening in the world, but the negative emotions themselves are only in the mind.
18kxbhlyu65g8jpg
The mind is the source of all problems, you may believe that someone losing the use of their legs is a physical problem, but the reality is that the problem is still in the mind. There’s people with physical disabilities who curse each day they’re alive, and there’s people with the same disabilities who have learned to live with them and are much happier because of it. Physically, it’s the same situation, yet mentally it’s vastly different. It’s the difference between happiness and misery, simply because of a mental attitude. The way things are is the way things are, it’s the mind that judges that as being a problem or not.
Since suffering only exists in the mind, it seems obvious that the mind is the source of suffering. In fact the mind is what creates all the problems, the whole idea of a “problem” is a concept within the mind. None of these things should be too difficult to accept, at least mentally, but it seems application of this knowledge is something people struggle with. I say this because most people are still trying to solve their problems using the very thing that created the problems, their mind.
How often have you heard that you can’t solve a problem using the same kind of thinking that created the problem? Yet all day long, every single day, people attempt to do precisely that. That kind of unconscious creation makes life very difficult, you can easily create two more problems for every problem that is “solved”. The mind is what creates the problems, it cannot transcend them.
13-07-24-design-minds-atom-workshop_page_03
All of the religious and spiritual systems, all of the political, economic, scientific, and psychological systems, all of those things the whole world is run with, are based upon using the mind to solve the problems the mind created. It’s not going to work, yet people foolishly put their hope into such an impossibility. It inevitably results in more mental suffering, and I recommend realizing this as soon as possible. Unless people collectively come to this realization, the same patterns will continue to occur.
I have no doubt that many of the people reading this right now, probably most of the people reading this, are looking for mental understandings. That’s simply the nature of the paradigm most people are living from, and it’s why people have so much difficultly transcending illusion. People want to use an illusion to try and escape from an illusion. This is why so much of spirituality, especially the new age stuff, is nothing more than fantasy. If you try to use the mind to see beyond the illusion, you’re just going to create more illusions.
17607-problems-are-in-your-mind-solutions-are-in-your-heartIf you cannot solve the problem of the mind with the mind, what then? Since most people live almost entirely from their minds, this seems like a paradox. We have all these spiritual practices that are supposed to solve this issue, but spiritual practices, and in fact all spiritual knowledge, is still mind-based. It may help some, but it doesn’t solve the root problem. It’s inherently limited because it’s still part of the mind.
This is why it’s often repeated to get out of the mind, and into the Heart. The Heart doesn’t have judgment, so the Heart doesn’t have any problems. You may believe that the Heart suffers, but it’s not really the Heart that suffers, it’s the mind’s unfulfilled desires that create suffering. It’s the mind that creates the illusion of separation, and it’s the mind that mourns a perceived loss, which is really the mind feeling sorry for itself.
WUW-Mind-over-matterThe mind can create the illusion of healing, in fact this is what’s known as the placebo effect. Since the mind created the suffering it has enormous control over the suffering. If you really believe in your mind that something will make you feel better, chances are it will appear to end the suffering. If you don’t understand that the mind is what created the suffering in the first place, this might lead you to believe the mind has enormous healing  powers. Of course, the patterns that originally created the problem are still there, and chances are the suffering will return in one form or another.
The more you get out of the mind, the closer you get to God. This is the whole point of meditation, yet this is often missed and people get all caught up in meditation techniques and systems, more mental creations. Simply Being Present is the most effective meditation, yet that’s too simple for the mind. The mind needs to complicate things, as complicating reality is how the mind exists in the first place.
mind_body_spiritYou don’t need to get rid of the mind entirely, that will happen sooner or later anyway. The key is to stop associating your self with your mind. You awareness doesn’t originate from your mind, your mind is only one subject of your awareness, one of many. The key is to understand the uses of the mind, and also its limitations. If you want to write a book, you need the mind, if you want lasting peace and happiness, do not use the mind to try to get there. It cannot, only Love can truly satisfy your Soul, trying to find peace through the mind is why there’s so much conflict in the world. The mind is the source of conflict, it cannot truly understand peace, it only sees peace dualistically, as a lack of conflict. Peace is so much more than that.
Understand that you need the mind to be a part of society. Without the mind there is no society, society is one of the mind’s many fabrications. I don’t recommend disconnecting from the rest of humanity, so I don’t recommend attempting to eradicate the mind altogether. Fighting with the mind only strengthens it anyway, as conflict itself originates from the mind.
I am not my thoughts but the awareness behind them..
I am not my thoughts but the awareness behind them..
Balance is found by not associating your self with the thoughts in your mind, by no longer attaching to them. Simply observe them and let them go, don’t get caught up in them. Then you’ll begin to expand your Consciousness into the more subtle feelings that are usually drowned out by the loud, unruly mind. It’s through seeing beyond the mind that the Divine is found, and where real Love, fulfillment, and peace are found.

Understanding the nature of illusion

Article Shared with Permission from the Galactic Free Press, Article written by Will.  Also check them out on facebook here!
How can someone be free if they can’t even see their own cage? Even worse, what if they believed the very thing that was keeping them caged would someday set them free?
Desiree-DelgadoAnd what is it we want freedom from? Wants, needs, and desires? Fear, pain, and suffering? Daily toil, drudgery, and boredom? Money problems, relationship problems? All our problems? Wouldn’t that be nice to not have to worry about all those things?
Let us go to the core, what is the root of all these issues? Simple, every single problem we have is a thought in our minds. A physical situation may exist, but it is the mind’s reaction that makes it into a problem. Our own thinking turns it into a problem and through this we become slaves to the thoughts in our minds.
A prisoner who knows nothing other than prison would simply think that’s the way life is. A prisoner who has tasted freedom will suffer far more when locked away, even though the reality of the situation would be the same for both prisoners. It’s simply a difference in perception.
martinique-206916_640Because the mind can create the illusion that we aren’t free, the illusion that we are dependent upon the body, mind and ego, the mind may seem very powerful. It’s not powerful at all, but to a person who can only see through the filter of their mind, it’s the most powerful thing in the world. The Being Within is where the power comes from, but that power is unconsciously given away by feeding into illusions.
Your Consciousness isn’t meant to be bound to any specific thought, but that’s exactly what the mind does. The mind is all the thoughts you are attached to, and these thoughts are what makes up your illusionary world. It takes a lot of energy to keep thoughts static, to hold them in place, and because of this all your attachments greatly weaken your energetic body. These problems with your energy body then manifest as disease in your physical vessel.
13-07-24-design-minds-atom-workshop_page_03The mind seems like it has the solution to your problems, it seems like your problems can be solved through your mind by thinking about them. In a sense this is true, but it’s because the problem was created by the mind in the first place. The mind is the master of illusions, in fact, the mind is the illusion.
All suffering, all problems, all hate, ugliness, fear and desire, the only place these things “exist” is in your mind. All the things people want to escape from, are just thoughts in the mind. When seen this way, one can see the insanity of trying to use the mind to escape these things.
ego_slaveryThe mind is the servant who tricked the Master into becoming a slave, and this was done through the ego. The ego is the mind-self, the “self” that exists solely within the confines of the mind. To the ego the mind is god, because the mind has immense control over the “reality” the ego experiences. Anything that contradicts what the mind believes is simply ignored. This is why many people believe they create their own reality, when they really just manipulating the illusionary world they’re trapped within.
There’s the belief that we need to go beyond the ego to find God, and that’s true, but the approach most people take is flawed. They try to use the mind to escape the ego. On the surface it seems like progress is being made, but unconsciously the mind wants to keep the ego. The ego and the mind are deeply connected and the mind’s power depends upon the ego’s survival. Instead of really clearing out the ego, the mind just makes the ego more subtle, more clever. Complete and total surrender to Spirit is an infinitely more effective approach than using the mind to get past the ego.
urlThe mind presents itself as the path to salvation, the path to freedom. You could call this religion. True Awakening is impossible through the mind, you don’t find Reality through illusion, and the mind has no intention of actually setting you free. If that happened the mind would go back to being the servant, so the mind gives you this false path that keeps you very busy and makes everything far more difficult than it needs to be. This is the reason Enlightenment is so dang difficult for people, they seek freedom from illusion through illusion.
So many spiritual teachers will give you paths to freedom that subtly contain the teacher’s own limitations. Perhaps that should be the motto of the “spiritual” mind, freedom through limitations. The new patterns may be less limiting than the old ones the person was stuck within, so to them it appears that they’re becoming free, but it’s still not True Freedom. You just keep getting a little closer without really taking the Leap.
healthy-mind-healthy-bodyOne of the huge mental limitations that masquerades as a path to freedom is this idea that you have to purify your body to raise your Consciousness. Utter nonsense! It’s completely backwards thinking. Not that I’m against keeping your body healthy, but the belief that it’s a requirement is materialism pretending to be godly. As if your Consciousness is dependent upon your body! That belief is one of the more damning ones, yet here’s all these “spiritual” teachers subtly promoting it. Raise your Consciousness, and you’ll naturally bring health to your temporary physical vessel. Begin by clearing out the poisons in your mind though.
Reality simply is, very simple, natural, effortless flow, Tao. The mind makes it complicated. The waves have no conflict with the shore, yet someone’s mind can come along and turn this into a problem. In trying to solve the problem with the very thing that created the problem, more problems are added. It’s a vicious cycle, and exactly why the human world is in the state it’s in.
a25abb3a88914974699a05c676d80e5bYou dont have to keep repeating these mistakes though. You can free yourself. The absurdity is that you’re only freeing yourself from the illusion that you’re not already free. See the ridiculousness of the mind! Stop taking it so seriously and you’ll stop giving it so much power.
What do you think about the illusions of the mind?  Let us know in the comments below & thank you for reading.

Your Lifestyle Has Already Been Designed (The Real Reason For The Forty-Hour Workweek)

By David Cain / raptitude.com

Well I’m in the working world again. I’ve found myself a well-paying gig in the engineering industry, and life finally feels like it’s returning to normal after my nine months of traveling.
Because I had been living quite a different lifestyle while I was away, this sudden transition to 9-to-5 existence has exposed something about it that I overlooked before.
Since the moment I was offered the job, I’ve been markedly more careless with my money. Not stupid, just a little quick to pull out my wallet. As a small example, I’m buying expensive coffees again, even though they aren’t nearly as good as New Zealand’s exceptional flat whites, and I don’t get to savor the experience of drinking them on a sunny cafĂ© patio. When I was away these purchases were less off-handed, and I enjoyed them more.
I’m not talking about big, extravagant purchases. I’m talking about small-scale, casual, promiscuous spending on stuff that doesn’t really add a whole lot to my life. And I won’t actually get paid for another two weeks.
In hindsight I think I’ve always done this when I’ve been well-employed — spending happily during the “flush times.” Having spent nine months living a no-income backpacking lifestyle, I can’t help but be a little more aware of this phenomenon as it happens.
I suppose I do it because I feel I’ve regained a certain stature, now that I am again an amply-paid professional, which seems to entitle me to a certain level of wastefulness. There is a curious feeling of power you get when you drop a couple of twenties without a trace of critical thinking. It feels good to exercise that power of the dollar when you know it will “grow back” pretty quickly anyway.
What I’m doing isn’t unusual at all. Everyone else seems to do this. In fact, I think I’ve only returned to the normal consumer mentality after having spent some time away from it.
One of the most surprising discoveries I made during my trip was that I spent much less per month traveling foreign counties (including countries more expensive than Canada) than I did as a regular working joe back home. I had much more free time, I was visiting some of the most beautiful places in the world, I was meeting new people left and right, I was calm and peaceful and otherwise having an unforgettable time, and somehow it cost me much less than my humble 9-5 lifestyle here in one of Canada’s least expensive cities.
It seems I got much more for my dollar when I was traveling. Why?

A Culture of Unnecessaries

Here in the West, a lifestyle of unnecessary spending has been deliberately cultivated and nurtured in the public by big business. Companies in all kinds of industries have a huge stake in the public’s penchant to be careless with their money. They will seek to encourage the public’s habit of casual or non-essential spending whenever they can.
In the documentary The Corporation, a marketing psychologist discussed one of the methods she used to increase sales. Her staff carried out a study on what effect the nagging of children had on their parents’ likelihood of buying a toy for them. They found out that 20% to 40% of the purchases of their toys would not have occurred if the child didn’t nag its parents. One in four visits to theme parks would not have taken place. They used these studies to market their products directly to children, encouraging them to nag their parents to buy.
This marketing campaign alone represents many millions of dollars that were spent because of demand that was completely manufactured.
“You can manipulate consumers into wanting, and therefore buying, your products. It’s a game.” ~ Lucy Hughes, co-creator of “The Nag Factor”
This is only one small example of something that has been going on for a very long time. Big companies didn’t make their millions by earnestly promoting the virtues of their products, they made it by creating a culture of hundreds of millions of people that buy way more than they need and try to chase away dissatisfaction with money.
We buy stuff to cheer ourselves up, to keep up with the Joneses, to fulfill our childhood vision of what our adulthood would be like, to broadcast our status to the world, and for a lot of other psychological reasons that have very little to do with how useful the product really is. How much stuff is in your basement or garage that you haven’t used in the past year?

The real reason for the forty-hour workweek

The ultimate tool for corporations to sustain a culture of this sort is to develop the 40-hour workweek as the normal lifestyle. Under these working conditions people have to build a life in the evenings and on weekends. This arrangement makes us naturally more inclined to spend heavily on entertainment and conveniences because our free time is so scarce.
I’ve only been back at work for a few days, but already I’m noticing that the more wholesome activities are quickly dropping out of my life: walking, exercising, reading, meditating, and extra writing.
The one conspicuous similarity between these activities is that they cost little or no money, but they take time.
Suddenly I have a lot more money and a lot less time, which means I have a lot more in common with the typical working North American than I did a few months ago. While I was abroad I wouldn’t have thought twice about spending the day wandering through a national park or reading my book on the beach for a few hours. Now that kind of stuff feels like it’s out of the question. Doing either one would take most of one of my precious weekend days!
The last thing I want to do when I get home from work is exercise. It’s also the last thing I want to do after dinner or before bed or as soon as I wake, and that’s really all the time I have on a weekday.
This seems like a problem with a simple answer: work less so I’d have more free time. I’ve already proven to myself that I can live a fulfilling lifestyle with less than I make right now. Unfortunately, this is close to impossible in my industry, and most others. You work 40-plus hours or you work zero. My clients and contractors are all firmly entrenched in the standard-workday culture, so it isn’t practical to ask them not to ask anything of me after 1pm, even if I could convince my employer not to.
The eight-hour workday developed during the industrial revolution in Britain in the 19th century, as a respite for factory workers who were being exploited with 14- or 16-hour workdays.
As technologies and methods advanced, workers in all industries became able to produce much more value in a shorter amount of time. You’d think this would lead to shorter workdays.
But the 8-hour workday is too profitable for big business, not because of the amount of work people get done in eight hours (the average office worker gets less than three hours of actual work done in 8 hours) but because it makes for such a purchase-happy public. Keeping free time scarce means people pay a lot more for convenience, gratification, and any other relief they can buy. It keeps them watching television, and its commercials. It keeps them unambitious outside of work.
We’ve been led into a culture that has been engineered to leave us tired, hungry for indulgence, willing to pay a lot for convenience and entertainment, and most importantly, vaguely dissatisfied with our lives so that we continue wanting things we don’t have. We buy so much because it always seems like something is still missing.
Western economies, particularly that of the United States, have been built in a very calculated manner on gratification, addiction, and unnecessary spending. We spend to cheer ourselves up, to reward ourselves, to celebrate, to fix problems, to elevate our status, and to alleviate boredom.
Can you imagine what would happen if all of America stopped buying so much unnecessary fluff that doesn’t add a lot of lasting value to our lives?
The economy would collapse and never recover.
All of America’s well-publicized problems, including obesity, depression, pollution and corruption are what it costs to create and sustain a trillion-dollar economy. For the economy to be “healthy”, America has to remain unhealthy. Healthy, happy people don’t feel like they need much they don’t already have, and that means they don’t buy a lot of junk, don’t need to be entertained as much, and they don’t end up watching a lot of commercials.
The culture of the eight-hour workday is big business’ most powerful tool for keeping people in this same dissatisfied state where the answer to every problem is to buy something.
You may have heard of Parkinson’s Law. It is often used in reference to time usage: the more time you’ve been given to do something, the more time it will take you to do it. It’s amazing how much you can get done in twenty minutes if twenty minutes is all you have. But if you have all afternoon, it would probably take way longer.
Most of us treat our money this way. The more we make, the more we spend. It’s not that we suddenly need to buy more just because we make more, only that we can, so we do. In fact, it’s quite difficult for us to avoid increasing our standard of living (or at least our rate of spending) every time we get a raise.
I don’t think it’s necessary to shun the whole ugly system and go live in the woods, pretending to be a deaf-mute, as Holden Caulfield often fantasized. But we could certainly do well to understand what big commerce really wants us to be. They’ve been working for decades to create millions of ideal consumers, and they have succeeded. Unless you’re a real anomaly, your lifestyle has already been designed.
The perfect customer is dissatisfied but hopeful, uninterested in serious personal development, highly habituated to the television, working full-time, earning a fair amount, indulging during their free time, and somehow just getting by.
Is this you?
Two weeks ago I would have said hell no, that’s not me, but if all my weeks were like this one has been, that might be wishful thinking.

7 Strange Phenomena Of The Mind

Déjà Vu

DĂ©jĂ  vu is the feeling of being certain that you’ve already experienced a certain situation previously. It’s as if what has happened is repeating itself in a new moment. A lot of the times, this is because it actually has.
dejavu1When we think about what we do or say each day, a lot of the times it’s repetitive.
I’ve had so many moments where I have to ask my friends if I’ve already told them a certain story I’m in the middle of.
Half the time – I have. Sometimes, some of these experiences have happened in a dream and a specific object or word reminds you of it.

Déjà Vécu

dejavu
DĂ©jĂ  vĂ©cu is similar to DĂ©jĂ  Vu but it is much more immersive. In a moment of DĂ©jĂ  Vu, it’s something you’ve SEEN before, but in a moment of DĂ©jĂ  VĂ©cu, it’s something you’ve FELT before.
It brings forth senses of smell and sound in greater detail. It is a more intense version of DĂ©jĂ  Vu.

Déjà Visité

DĂ©jĂ  visitĂ© is an amazing feeling of familiarity with a place you’ve never been. If you’re walking around a new city or perhaps forest and you have this strange feeling of being there before – well maybe you have in a dreams state or on a higher frequency. I was walking around a neighborhood in Santa Cruz – a place I never thought I’d visit.
deja vu
I had a completely overwhelming feeling of being here before.
I had actually thought of this place as a kid, and it had more to do with the feeling of being here rather than what everything looked like.
The experience was amazing and brought me to tears as I was overcome with feelings of gratitude.

 DĂ©jĂ  Senti

DĂ©jĂ  senti – stemming from the word sentimental, is the phenomenon of having “already felt” something. This sometimes translates to thinking you just spoke but then realizing you didn’t say anything at all.
It happens inthose moments of daydreaming, when you think you just did something but snap back into reality and realize you were just sitting there the whole time.
imgres

Jamais Vu

Jamais vu – this is a crazy one. It’s like the opposite of DĂ©jĂ  Vu, where something isn’t recognized. This experience happens all the time when you say a word over and over and you just can’t even believe it’s a word anymore.
You begin to doubt if it’s spelled correctly and it becomes a foreign sound of jumbled letters.
f6f040e4e76a581ca462d8b5c40d99ce
This first happened to me when I was about 6 and said the word ‘finger’ over and over. It freaked me out how much I didn’t recognize it after repeating it.

Presque Vu

Presque vu this is that annoying sensation of something being ‘on the tip of your tongue’. You can just almost grasp the word or idea you’re trying to remember but you can’t quite get it.
This is a very strange experience – it’s like you can see parts of the word in your mind but its jumbled and can’t be grasped.
That moment of pulling it into your consciousness and expressing it is quite special, what made you able to put the connections together to retrieve the information?

L’esprit de l’Escalier

L’esprit de l’escalier – literally translating to ‘staircase wit’ is that awful feeling of knowing what to say AFTER it’s already too late.
In the moment of trying to say a witty comeback but it just won’t come to mind, and then after the conversation is done THEN you know what to say. It’s  happened to all of us. escalier

Milk Does Not Do A Body Good – Massive New Study Says

cow

Milk seems to be making its way through various stages of truth, especially within the past couple of years. Like many other examples, what we once thought to be healthy for us to consume is turning out to be the exact opposite.
A large study coming from researchers at the Uppsala University in Sweden found that drinking milk led to an increased mortality rate and actually made bones more prone to fracturing, not less.(1)
The study was recently published in the peer reviewed British Medical Journaland was specifically conducted to examine whether high milk consumption is associated with mortality and fractures in both men and women.
The study took place across three different counties in Sweden, and used data from two large Swedish cohorts, one with 61,433 women aged approximately 39-74 years old and one with 45, 339 men aged approximately 45-79 years old. They were all administered food frequency questionnaires. The study used “multivariable survival models” that were “applied to determine the association between milk consumption and time to mortality and fracture.
The results were as follows:
“During a mean follow-up of 20.1 years, 15 541 women died and 17 252 had a fracture, of whom 4259 had a hip fracture. In the male cohort with a mean follow-up of 11.2 years, 10 112 men died and 5066 had a fracture, with 1166 hip fracture cases. In women the adjusted mortality hazard ratio for three or more glasses of milk a day compared with less than one glass a day was 1.93 (95% confidence interval 1.80 to 2.06). For every glass of milk, the adjusted hazard ratio of all cause mortality was 1.15 (1.13 to 1.17) in women and 1.03 (1.01 to 1.04) in men. For every glass of milk in women no reduction was observed in fracture risk with higher milk consumption for any fracture (1.02, 1.00 to 1.04) or for hip fracture (1.09, 1.05 to 1.13). The corresponding adjusted hazard ratios in men were 1.01 (0.99 to 1.03) and 1.03 (0.99 to 1.07). In subsamples of two additional cohorts, one in males and one in females, a positive association was seen between milk intake and both urine 8-iso-PGF2α (a biomarker of oxidative stress) and serum interleukin 6 (a main inflammatory biomarker).” (1)
The study concluded  that high milk intake was associated with higher mortality in one cohort of women and in another cohort of men, and with higher fracture incidence in women. It also concluded:
“Given the observational study designs with the inherent possibility of residual confounding and reverse causation phenomena, a cautious interpretation of the results is recommended.”(1)

This Is Not The Only Study That Suggests Milk Is Not Good For Our Body

In a paper published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics, Harvard pediatrician David Ludwig emphasizes that bone fracture rates tend to be lower in countries that do not consume milk. compared to those that do, also noting that there are many other sources of calcium. (source)
Another study published in the American Journal of Public Health showed that dairy consumption might actually increase the risk of fractures by 50 percent. (2)
Studies have also shown that calcium isn’t as bone protective as we thought. Multiple studies on calcium supplementation have shown no benefit in reducing bone fracture risk. In fact, vitamin D appears to be more effective when it comes to reducing bone fracture risk. (3)
Studies have also shown that dairy products might increase a males risk of developing prostate cancer by 30 -50 percent. (4)
The list literally goes on and on.
It’s also interesting to note that approximately 65 to 75 percent of the total human population on our planet have a reduced ability to digest lactose after infancy. (5)(6)  In some countries, over 90 percent of the adult population is lactose intolerant, think about that for a moment.
Lactose intolerance is an impaired ability to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and other dairy products. Lactose is normally broken down by an enzyme called lactase, which is produced by cells in the lining of the small intestine.
Keep in mind that the milk we have so much trouble digesting after infancy is cows milk, not our mother’s natural breast milk.  In fact, we are the only species on Earth that consumes the milk of another animal.
Since lactase’s only function is the digestion of lactose in milk, most mammal species experience a dramatic reduction in the activity of the enzyme after weaning. Lactase persistence in humans has evolved as an adaptation to the consumption of non-human milk and dairy products consumed beyond infancy. Our diet has changed a lot, and as a result some of our genes have adapted, but it’s not an easy process. This is why most humans are lactose intolerant.
Every other species weans and then never drinks milk again for the rest of their lives, and because of that they don’t have an enzyme to break down the sugar in milk. But during human evolution, some humans experienced a mutation in the LTC gene, the lactase gene, these mutations allow us to process lactose as adults. With approximately 65- 75 percent percent of humans on the planet unable to properly process it, it is evidence enough that we are not doing what is natural and in accordance with our bodies.
Below is a video of Katherine S. Pollard, a PhD at the University of California, San Francisco going into more detail from the above paragraph.

Milk/Dairy Is Not The Only Source of Calcium

This list is extremely long, here is a very small list of non dairy/vegan sources of calcium, many of them out there provide a healthier source and even more of it. It’s important to do your research, there are so many foods out there that contain a healthy and abundant source of calcium.
  • Kale: One cup of raw kale is loaded with calcium, approximately 90 mg to be exact. This means that a 3.5 cup of kale salad provides more calcium than a one cup class of milk
  • Oranges: One Naval Orange contains approximately 60 mg of calcium
  • Beans
  • Green Peas
  • Chickpeas
  • Quinoa
  • Seeds
  • Hemp

These People Reversed Their Diabetes In 30 Days With This One Change

diabetes

Diabetes is one of the most rampant diseases of our time. According to the American Diabetes Association, in 2012, 29.1 million Americans, or 9.3% of the population, had diabetes. [1]
In fact, diabetes is growing at a fairly fast rate. A study completed by the CDC & Research Triangle Institute concluded that If recent trends in diabetes prevalence rates continue linearly over the next 50 years, future changes in the size and demographic characteristics of the U.S. population will lead to dramatic increases in the number of Americans with diagnosed diabetes. [2]
According to the current mainstream approach, the major goal in treating diabetes is to minimize any elevation of blood sugar (glucose) without causing abnormally low levels of blood sugar. Type 1 diabetes is treated with insulin, exercise, and a diabetic diet. Type 2 diabetes is treated first with weight reduction, a diabetic diet, and exercise. [3] Currently the belief is “Diabetes is a chronic disease that has no cure.”– The American Diabetes Association.
But what if we could not only prevent diabetes before it happened, but also reverse it once it shows up?

6 Test Subjects Reverse Diabetes In 30 Days

In the film Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days, six test subjects were used, all of whom had varying lifestyles and conditions but were all diabetic- five type 2, and one type 1. Each subject was taking insulin.
Before we get into the results of this film, let’s take note of what is established about type 1 and type 2 diabetes. This information is from The National Diabetes Education Program:
Type 1 diabetes – the body does not make insulin. Insulin helps the body use glucose from food for energy. People with type 1 need to take insulin every day.
Type 2 diabetes – the body does not make or use insulin well. People with type 2 often need to take pills or insulin. Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes.
The participants of the program were as follows:
  • Austin (age 25) was not only a type 1 diabetic, but he also had a drinking problem.
  • Kirt (age 25) had a blood sugar reading of 1200. Normal is below 100. His doctor told him, “You should be dead.”
  • Bill (age 58) was seeing a cardiologist and had neuropathy. He could not feel his feet.
  • Michelle (age 36) was quite obese.
  • Henry (age 58) took insulin plus 9 pills daily. Blood sugar was at 464.
  • Pam (62) was quite obese. Her father, brother and sister are also diabetic.

Simply-RawThe Method

The approach Gabriel Cousens takes to cure people of diabetes is all about changing their diet. He states that research shows that in terms of health, meat eaters have 4 times more breast cancer, 3.6 times more prostate cancer, 4 times more diabetes, and much more in general chronic disease. If you’re just having milk, that’s 3 times more leukemia.[4]
Given his position on diet, he believes in taking a mainly raw approach to eating and consuming a plant based diet. His team prepares raw, well-balanced and whole meals for the test subjects throughout the 30 day period. The food becomes their medicine.
With medical supervision, all of the subjects took their medication as needed and ate the food that is provided to them by Gabriel and his team at the Tree Of Life Rejuvenation Center.

Results

By Day 3 of the program Kirt, Bill and Henry were able to stop taking insulin and medication. Their blood sugar levels had already dropped to the normal range after just 3 days of changing their diet. Pam was able to cut her insulin intake by 1/3. Austin, the type 1 diabetic, was able to cut his insulin intake down to half. And Michelle saw her blood sugar at around 362. This discouraged her to the point where she didn’t want to stay in the program any longer, although she did.
By day 12 of the program, Henry’s blood sugar had dropped 256 points compared to day 1. He was not using medication to lower his blood sugar levels. Although he was seeing great results, Henry felt he was too old for the program and requested to go home. His family arrived on day 17 and he went home. By that time, he was no longer taking 17 medications, he had lost 30 pounds and his blood pressure had decreased. In Henry’s case, his addiction to the food he used to eat was too difficult to overcome.
By the very last day, day 30, incredible results were seen that intensely challenges the current belief that diabetes has no cure.
  • Kirt no longer needed medications. His blood sugar had dropped 214 points to as low as 73 (normal) without medication. It was later found out he was type 1 diabetic since the beginning. Status: Within normal range.
  • Bill stopped taking 19 medications and lost 32 pounds. His blood sugar dropped 214 points to 74 (normal) without medication or insulin. Status: Within normal range.
  • Michelle stopped taking all of her medications and lost 23 pounds. Her blood sugar dropped from 291 to 109 without the use of medication. Status: Within normal range.
  • Pam lost 26 pounds while her blood sugar dropped 167 points down to 112 without medication. Status: Within normal range.
  • Austin, who is type 1 diabetic, lost 20 pounds and reduced his insulin from 70 units down to 5. Status: Drastic improvement in diabetic condition.
As you can see, all participants had drastic turn-arounds in their health and all had their diabetes either completely reversed or severely under control. A type 1 diabetic (Kirt) had his diabetes completely cured -something that is considered impossible. All type 2 diabetics no longer needed insulin.

What Does This Tell Us?

Like many things in modern medicine, we don’t have all of the answers and in a lot of cases we have a difficult time admitting that what is currently mainstream  isn’t always the best course of action.
People everywhere are taking alternate routes to achieve results equal to and sometimes better than what is made available to them through mainstream voices like doctors and government appointed professionals. I feel it’s important that people know their options and have a fair chance of hearing them out. I know many people with diabetes who aren’t aware of the power of food in transforming their condition yet are taking insulin and following mainstream ideas as if it’s the only truth.
It isn’t to say that the mainstream is bad, it’s simply that we are missing out on other options in a big way. After all, the American Diabetes Association makes claims about there being no cures yet the above results would suggest there is more to that story.
Have you ever tried raw food to cure your diabetes? We are curious to hear some real live results from others.

Rejuvenate Your Entire Immune System By Fasting

plate
Fasting for three days can regenerate your entire immune system because it triggers the body to start producing new white blood cells.
Even though fasting diets are considered by nutritionists unhealthy, scientists at the University of Southern California say starving the body kick-starts stem cells into producing new white blood cells which can fight off infection. Fasting “flips a regenerative switch” which prompts stem cells to create brand new white blood cells. This is particularly beneficial for people suffering from damaged immune systems, such as cancer patients on chemotherapy.
“When you starve, the system tries to save energy, and one of the things it can do to save energy is to recycle a lot of the immune cells that are not needed, especially those that may be damaged,” Dr Longo said.

Heatmaps Reveal Where Humans Feel Certain Emotions On The Body

It’s well known that attitudes, emotions and feelings affect our body in a variety of ways. For example, feelings of hopelessness affect the body’s hormone system and change the chemical flows within our brains. Different emotional states act as triggers that impact our biology in a variety of ways. Brain activity changes during different emotional states. The list goes on and on.
A new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science   demonstrates that different emotional states trigger different physical sensations on the body. Emotions such as anger, impacted the body in a different area compared to the emotion of fear, disgust, happiness, love, depression, and more. Each individual emotion had it’s own unique part of the body that correlated with it.
The study was conducted at Aalto University by a team of bio-medical engineers. 700 volunteers from Finland, Sweden and Taiwan participated in the study.
“Emotions are often felt in the body, and somatosensory feedback has been proposed to trigger conscious emotional experiences. Here we reveal maps of bodily sensations associated with different emotions using a unique topographical self-report method. In five experiments, participants were shown two silhouettes of bodies alongside emotional words, stories, movies, or facial expressions. They were asked to color the bodily regions whose activity they felt increasing or decreasing while viewing each stimulus. Different emotions were consistently associated with statically separable bodily sensation maps across experiments. These maps were concordant across West European and East Asian samples.” (1)
pic
Regardless of race, gender, different emotional states correlated with the same part of the body with the majority of participants.  Usually when you have a group as large as 700 people, your going to get pretty reliable and conclusive results.
“Emotions adjust not only our mental, but our bodily states. This way they prepare us to react swiftly to the dangers, but also to the opportunities such as pleasurable social interactions present in the environment.” Lauri Nummenmaa, assistant professor in an Aalto University press release.
This study is yet another important reminder of how emotions can impact the body. Do you pay attention to the ways in which emotions affect your body, health, and others around you? Finding your inner peace is a great way to improve your health.
How can we let go of emotions that don’t serve us? Let’s take anger for example. Imagine that you are carrying a tank of gasoline, and whatever it is in your external world that upsets you, is the match. These can be concepts, thoughts, people, etc. All you have to do is empty and let go of the tank of gasoline, and the matches can’t start a blaze. You are always in control of your emotions, your reactions are always your choice. It starts with looking at yourself from an external perspective. Nobody else is to blame for your different emotional states but yourself, although it might not always seem that way.
Did you know that your heart emits electromagnetic fields that change according to your emotions? That the human heart’s magnetic field can be measured up to several feet away from the body? That positive emotions create physiological benefits in your body? That you can boost your immune system by conjuring positive emotions? That negative emotions can create a nervous system chaos, but positive emotions do the opposite? For more information on this, check out the tremendous work that scientists and researchers are doing at The Instutue of Hearthmath.

25 traits of mentally strong people

mentallystrong

We live in a fast-paced world. There are fewer guarantees and more uncertainties these days. Thankfully this also means that there are plenty of opportunities, too. People who learn to welcome them as they come are the ones who are keeping up and making progress in the turbulent times we live in today. Usually these people are mentally strong and manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in ways that set them up for success in life. If you are wondering whether you are a mentally strong person, here are 25 signs that show you have nerves of steel:
1. You avoid conflicts
The true mark of maturity is when somebody hurts you and you try to understand their situation instead of trying to hurt them back. Holding grudges has never been a solution to problems, nor has anyone achieved anything out of it.Instead of spending your time hating people who hurt you, you choose to let go of the pain and learn from the incident. Even in the harshest stress factors, you choose to stay calm and you try to handle situations smoothly. You think that raising your voice is a sign of weakness.
2. You don’t judge or envy
You’ve hardly ever made assumptions without first being fully aware of the situation. You avoid believing in the negative stuff that you’ve been told and you don’t resent other people’s success. You celebrate other people’s success and don’t grow jealous when somebody is better than you in a particular area. You know that success comes with hard work and you are willing to work hard for your achievements.
3. You are open to receive the help of others
You are not trapped by your ego. You are not afraid of asking for help if you are in need. You are confident to admit that you don’t know everything and you are open to ask for help in order to learn.
4. You apologize when necessary
You are not worrying about losing face when you apologize when you’ve said or done something wrong. You don’t fear admitting your own mistakes and are ready to suffer the consequences from them. That makes you a responsible and honest human being.
5. You are open to other people’s opinions
You handle different opinions easily- you don’t reject them because you believe that the opposite of what you know may be true for someone else. You embrace diversity and are ready to listen to what everybody has to say.
6. You are selfless
You love helping others and you don’t expect anything in return when you do something good for a friend. You know that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
7. You know you can’t always please everyone
Although you are a kind and genuine being, you are aware that you can’t always make everyone happy. You know that spending time on yourself is as important as containing a good relationship with the people around you but are willing to say “no” when somebody tries to steal from your time for yourself.
8. You know that the world does not owe you anything
You don’t feel entitled to things in life. You are willing to work hard for achieving your goals and you know that your world is what you make it. You don’t take anything for granted and are thankful for what you have.
9. You embrace change
You don’t try to avoid change and understand that it is inevitable. You welcome positive change and are willing to be flexible because you believe in your abilities to adapt.
10. You follow your heart
You believe that you can’t go wrong by following your heart and instincts. You understand that by doing that, you’re helping your soul grow and you are never sorry for following your heart.
11. You forgive yourself
You know that being angry at yourself is not going to take you far. Instead, you are willing to forgive yourself and by doing that you are able to learn. Leaving the past where it belongs instead of dwelling on it is the key of moving on and making progress.
12. You are financially responsible
You are a responsible human being and know that by spending your money foolishly you are harming your future self.
13. You believe that persistence pays off
You have goals and nothing can distract you from working towards them. Although you may have failed several times, you don’t view failure as a reason to give up. On the contrary- you use failure as an opportunity to grow stronger and improve. You find ways around any obstacle. Giving up just isn’t your thing, but looking for alternatives is.
14. Self-improvement is a way of life
You know that life is about learning new things and you live your life by always trying to improve yourself- whether it is for your job, health or any other area of your life. You agree that if a person stops learning, he is dead.
15. You are taking care of your mind and body
You can’t have a healthy mind without a healthy body. You know that by maintaining a balanced life, you are able to grow stronger and be the best version of yourself. Your body is your mind.
16. You are willing to step away of your comfort zone
You believe that the comfort zone isn’t a good place to be stuck because nothing grows there, so you try to challenge yourself on a daily basis and take calculated risks.
17. You don’t waste energy on things you can’t control
You know that sometimes the only thing you can control is your attitude towards the events in your life. Wasting your energy on things you can’t control is something that doesn’t suit you and know that blaming something that’s beyond your control is useless and silly.
18. You use your time wisely
You value your time and believe that by killing time, it actually is killing you. You fight procrastination and choose to spend your time productively.
19. You handle crisis calmly
You remain calm and clear of thought during a crisis. Good result of anything comes out when it’s done with a peaceful and a calm mind.
20. You are not co-dependent
You don’t rely on others to do your work and by doing so, you maintain a healthy relationship both personally and professionally.
21. You know you are responsible for how your life unfolds
You believe your own happiness and success is a byproduct of your own thinking, beliefs, attitudes, character and behavior.
22. You know that gratitude is the best attitude adjustment
The more goodness you see, the more you create, and the more good things you have to smile about. Happiness doesn’t start when “this, that or the other thing” is resolved. Happiness is what happens now when you appreciate what you have.
23. You know that you don’t have to be perfect
You believe that when you spend too much time concentrating on everyone else’s perception of you, or who everyone else wants you to be, you eventually forget who you really are. So you don’t fear other people’s judgments because you know in your heart who you really are and are not ashamed to show your real face to the world.
24. You know who you are
You are at peace with yourself and you aware of what you want to achieve. You have certain limits that you’ve established for yourself and you’ve embraced them because you know well that that is who you are.
25. You expect less and learn more
Although things don’t always go as you’ve planned, you’ve realized that this is what life is about. You don’t always get what you’ve wanted and that’s a good thing because you learn from this experience and keep going.

“We Are In The Bullseye!” Expert Warns, “By Midweek, All Hell’s Going To Break Loose!”

Michio Kaku joins CBS This Morning to warn 250 million Americans that “we are in the bullseye” and by midweek, “all hell’s going to break loose” as America prepares to be pummeled by something sounding almost Biblical, ‘BomboGenesis’. Kaku warns that air, train and vehicle traffic could be paralyzed next week, and schedules disrupted: “A massive disruption that will peak around November 13th to November 15th” Kaku informs us, before telling us that we could feel the ‘ripple effects’ throughout November. Kaku also warns “the Earth is changing” and we need to get used to seeing more “violent swings.”

Ascend Academy: The Fundamental Principles of Reality

merkabaha

Welcome to the first issue of Ascend Academy.  Brace yourselves, we are about to delve into the mother load of all spiritual concepts.  This article reveals the meaning behind the 7 Hermetic Principles of truth, directly from their source, The Kybalion.
I am about to present some very powerful information to you that may stir up a lot of discussion, and possibly opposition.  These seven principles are considered to be ABSOLUTE TRUTHS, and many ancient and current hermeticists, mystics, philosophers and so called enlightened beings regard its application to be THE Master key path to understanding the self and it’s relation to all that is.
If you feel within yourself that you are not ready to handle this information, feel free to come back and read when you are.  These teachings have been kept secret for thousands of years by the Hermetic tradition, only being passed between master and initiate of countless different occult societies across human history.  This was out of fear that this information would be used by those who did not quite understand its significance, or who had selfish intentions and lack of wisdom.  In 1912, it was published by an anonymous entity known as the Three Initiates(?) and has since been put into public domain, now widely available online.
I believe that this knowledge should be widespread so that we can begin implementing and spreading its profound wisdom and applications for the ascension of mankind as a whole.
It is clear that the ancient masters did not wish for these principles to be ‘crystallized into creeds by any country or religious sect’.  So while viewing this information,  HAVE YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE, and consider this to be a pragmatic philosophy for understanding the spiritual reality.
The dense quotations I’ve placed describing these principles are directly from the kybalion.org and I suggest you give that a read after viewing this article if you wish to go even deeper.  I will also try to break down what each principle means to us in our day to day lives as well as in relevance to our spiritual practice.  I hope this knowledge resonates! (THIS ARTICLE IS QUITE LONG; Taking breaks in between every other principle is recommended!)

THE 7 HERMETIC PRINCIPLES

“The Principles of Truth are Seven; he who knows these, understandingly, possesses the Magic Key before whose touch all the Doors of the Temple fly open.”  -The Kybalion
THE PRINCIPLE OF MENTALISM.
THE PRINCIPLE OF CORRESPONDENCE.
THE PRINCIPLE OF VIBRATION.
THE PRINCIPLE OF POLARITY.
THE PRINCIPLE OF RHYTHM.
THE PRINCIPLE OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.
THE PRINCIPLE OF GENDER.

The Principle of Mentalism

‘This Principle embodies the truth that “All is Mind.” It explains that THE ALL (which is the Substantial Reality underlying all the outward manifestations and appearances which we know under the terms of “The Material Universe”; the “Phenomena of Life”; “Matter”; “Energy”; and, in short, all that is apparent to our material senses) is SPIRIT, which in itself is UNKNOWABLE and UNDEFINABLE, but which may be considered and thought of as AN UNIVERSAL, INFINITE, LIVING MIND. It also explains that all the phenomenal world or universe is simply a Mental Creation of THE ALL, subject to the Laws of Created Things, and that the universe, as a whole, and in its parts or units, has its existence in the Mind of THE ALL, in which Mind we “live and move and have our being.”‘ – The Kybalion
mindofgod
The All, or the Universal Infinite Living Mind is the notion which we consider God or Source Consciousness, and because we are within this infinite mind, it pervades the entirety of every single space, physical or non physical.  In essence, each person or form of consciousness is equivalent to a dream figure in the lucid dream of God.  I understand this is a large concept to swallow, bear with me!
If you have ever lucid dreamed, you would know that when you ask a person in your dream who they are or what they represent, they will actually tell you that they are some facet of your consciousness.  You would also know that a lot of times your dream figures will tell you that their experience is not a dream at all.  Some are more or less aware of their roles in your psychological make up.  Likewise, each one of us is an aspect of God’s mind in that same way; a symbol of a complex concept being expressed in a microcosmic form.  For those who have not lucid dreamed, think of it as this whole universe is an organism, matter and energy are the cells, and we as forms of consciousness are the neurons.
Coming into this knowledge is the most fundamental key to understanding and expanding our consciousness as well as traversing the higher planes of reality.  We must understand that we, and literally everything and everyone else, IS Spirit, or fractal facets of its consciousness.  It is important that we apply this understanding in our daily interactions with others, understand that all other beings are simply another aspect of an infinite, complex, and extremely variant consciousness, and are just as much of an expression of it as you are no matter what form they take.  Allow yourself to be without judgement towards others with this understanding.  Eventually this will cultivate a mindset of unconditional love towards all life.

The Principle of Correspondence

‘This Principle embodies the truth that there is always a Correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of Being and Life. The old Hermetic axiom ran in these words: “As above, so below; as below, so above.” And the grasping of this Principle gives one the means of solving many a dark paradox, and hidden secret of Nature. There are planes beyond our knowing, but when we apply the Principle of Correspondence to them we are able to understand much that would otherwise be unknowable to us. This Principle is of universal application and manifestation, on the various planes of the material, mental, and spiritual universe — it is an Universal Law.’ – The Kybalion
KochCircleInverted
With this principle we become aware of the fractal nature of the universe in which a similar pattern of phenomena repeats across all scales of existence.  This phenomena can be synonymous with the musical note octaves on a piano, in that each note is repeated in the next set or dimensional plane with the same vibrational quality but on a higher frequency.
Usually, interaction with one element may cause a resonant reaction on higher or lower planes, as certain qualities in parallel planes correspond to one another like musical chords.  This applies to sound, color, thoughts, emotions, chakras, and all forms of spectrums that exist throughout the universe.  This is a great segue into our next principle:

The Principle of Vibration

‘This Principle embodies the truth that “everything is in motion”; “everything vibrates”; “nothing is at rest”; facts which Modern Science endorses, and which each new scientific discovery tends to verify. And yet this Hermetic Principle was enunciated thousands of years ago, by the Masters of Ancient Egypt. This Principle explains that the differences between different manifestations of Matter, Energy, Mind, and even Spirit, result largely from varying rates of Vibration. From THE ALL, which is Pure Spirit, down to the grossest form of Matter, all is in vibration — the higher the vibration, the higher the position in the scale. The vibration of Spirit is at such an infinite rate of intensity and rapidity that it is practically at rest — just as a rapidly moving wheel seems to be motionless. And at the other end of the scale, there are gross forms of matter whose vibrations are so low as to seem at rest. ‘ – The Kybalion
Understanding vibrational frequency and its application in our spirituality is crucial.  When we are dealing with negative thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, we must grasp that these things are dense vibrations within our minds, keeping us in a low vibratory rate of consciousness.   If they are vibrating, they are emitting sound, light, or rippling out in some form of wave.  If we are constantly emitting these sorts of vibrations, our outside world, which is essentially still MIND, will resonate with our mental experience, causing those same sorts of low vibrational experiences to manifest physically.  In the same way, if we are radiating positive, loving, and blissful forms of vibration, our reality will follow suite.
swirlingchakras
Essentially, everything in existence interacts with its components through rates of vibration.  Dimensions, in a simplistic way of understanding, are different octaves of vibration, in which the consciousness inhabiting those octaves perceive things relevant to their mental state, perspectives, beliefs, and level of awareness.  This is why many of us cannot see the astral plane or things like ghosts, auras, and spiritual entities, because we are not vibrating at the same rate as them and cannot resonate with those experiences.
Our minds are like radio tuners for different channels of experience.  We can turn the dial by shifting our attention and intention towards different actions, different thoughts, different mental states and different beliefs about our reality.  Reading this right now is essentially tuning you to the frequency of these higher planes, expanding your awareness to allow your mind to resonate with their concepts, and thus allowing you to hold consciousness within them.

The Principle of Polarity

‘This Principle embodies the truth that “everything is dual”; “everything has two poles”; “everything has its pair of opposites,” all of which were old Hermetic axioms. It explains the old paradoxes, that have perplexed so many, which have been stated as follows: “Thesis and anti-thesis are identical in nature, but different in degree”; “opposites are the same, differing only in degree”; “the pairs of opposites may be reconciled”; “extremes meet”; “everything is and isn’t, at the same time”; “all truths are but half-truths”; “every truth is half-false”; “there are two sides to everything,” etc., etc., etc.
It explains that in everything there are two poles, or opposite aspects, and that “opposites” are really only the two extremes of the same thing, with many varying degrees between them. To illustrate: Heat and Cold, although “opposites,” are really the same thing, the differences consisting merely of degrees of the same thing. Look at your thermometer and see if you can discover where “heat” terminates and “cold” begins! There is no such thing as “absolute heat” or “absolute cold” — the two terms “heat” and “cold” simply indicate varying degrees of the same thing, and that “same thing” which manifests as “heat” and “cold” is merely a form, variety, and rate of Vibration. So “heat” and “cold” are simply the “two poles” of that which we call “Heat” — and the phenomena attendant thereupon are manifestations of the Principle of Polarity.
The same Principle manifests in the case of “Light and Darkness,” which are the same thing, the difference consisting of varying degrees between the two poles of the phenomena. Where does “darkness” leave off, and “light” begin? What is the difference between “Large and Small”? Between “Hard and Soft”? Between “Black and White”? Between “Sharp and Dull”? Between “Noise and Quiet”? Between “High and Low”? Between “Positive and Negative”? The Principle of Polarity explains these paradoxes, and no other Principle can supersede it.’ – The Kybalion
spiral_torus_animation_by_taffgochd3c7zzr
With the concept that extreme opposites are simply the poles of the same thing, we can cease to have a dualistic perspective and instead view these phenomena as spectrums or sliding scales of vibration.  Once we understand that, we can begin to use what is called Mental Alchemy or Mental Transmutation.  Unlike the traditional view of Alchemy in which you change different base or undesirable metals into Gold, we polarize the negative thoughts, emotions, and mental states into positive ones (The prior definition being a hidden allegory for the true meaning).
This is one particular field that I will be continuing to study and give you my interpretation of so that you can all benefit.  It will probably be one of our last topics discussed in this series, as it can profoundly change our perspective and our experience and must be used with sufficient knowledge.

The Principle of Rhythm

This Principle embodies the truth that in everything there is manifested a measured motion, to and fro; a flow and inflow; a swing backward and forward; a pendulum-like movement; a tide-like ebb and flow; a high-tide and low-tide; between the two poles which exist in accordance with the Principle of Polarity described a moment ago. There is always an action and a reaction; an advance and a retreat a rising and a sinking. This is in the affairs of the Universe, suns, worlds, men, animals, mind, energy, and matter. This law is manifest in the creation and destruction of worlds; in the rise and fall of nations; in the life of all things; and finally in the mental states of Man (and it is with this latter that the Hermetists find the understanding of the Principle most important).
The Hermetists have grasped this Principle, finding its universal application, and have also discovered certain means to overcome its effects in themselves by the use of the appropriate formulas and methods. They apply the Mental Law of Neutralization. They cannot annul the Principle, or Cause it to cease its operation, but they have learned how to escape its effects upon themselves to a certain degree depending upon the Mastery of the Principle. They have learned how to USE it, instead of being USED BY it. In this and similar methods, consist the Art of the Hermetists. The Master of Hermetics polarizes himself at the point at which he desires to rest, and then neutralizes the Rhythmic swing of the pendulum which would tend to carry him to the other pole.’ – The Kybalion
still_2729
Rhythm is a direct result of the nature of vibration, as the oscillation between two poles in any given scale provides an environment in which energy can shift from one state to the next and back again with equal proportion.  This teaches us of the importance of balance in the universe, because without rhythmic proportion, we are unable to measure and identify the different states that energy can move between and how they directly relate to one another.
Another way to look at it is that this principle recognizes the heartbeat or the symphony of the universe.  If we learn to ride these innate universal rhythms consciously, we can begin to work in harmony with the universal energies rather than have them work against us, being apart of the music or flowing with the current to achieve our conscious expansion.
I have personally understood and used this principle to polarize into my higher self for long periods of time while denying my ego self reign over my thoughts, but this is far from mastering the principle.  As we delve deeper into the series, we will explore this principle’s application together and maybe new ways of ‘rhythm riding’ can be unearthed.

The Principle of Causation

‘This Principle embodies the fact that there is a Cause for every Effect; an Effect from every Cause. It explains that: “Everything Happens according to Law”; that nothing ever “merely happens”; that there is no such thing as Chance; that while there are various planes of Cause and Effect, the higher dominating the lower planes, still nothing ever entirely escapes the Law. The Hermetists understand the art and methods of rising above the ordinary plane of Cause and Effect, to a certain degree, and by mentally rising to a higher plane they become Causers instead of Effects. The masses of people are carried along, obedient to environment; the wills and desires of others stronger than themselves; heredity; suggestion; and other outward causes moving them about like pawns on the Chessboard of Life. But the Masters, rising to the plane above, dominate their moods, characters, qualities, and powers, as well as the environment surrounding them, and become Movers instead of pawns. They help to PLAY THE GAME OF LIFE, instead of being played and moved about by other wills and environment. They USE the Principle instead of being its tools. The Masters obey the Causation of the higher planes, but they help to RULE on their own plane. In this statement there is condensed a wealth of Hermetic knowledge — let him read who can.’  – The Kybalion

I think that this principle is common sense for most, but many are not aware that it applies on and connects all dimensions of reality.  With this in mind we can begin to see how the universe came into being.  The first cause, the Infinite Living Mind or Source, created a set of causes via VIBRATION to allow many ripples of subsequent  events to intertwine and unfold.  The causes on higher planes began manifesting effects on the lower planes, and our physical universe eventually unfolded in this way.  It is easy to now view the phenomena of this world as having specific serendipitous purpose, even if we are not able to understand what exactly causes them.  Synchronicity is a prominent example of higher plane causation in action, where almost divinely timed experiences manifest in peculiar patterns. photo
This principle is symbolically (as well as mathematically) represented in the construction of the Flower of Life geometry and its successive forms, as these are higher dimensional blueprints for the denser manifestations of matter to use as templates.  Throughout the series, we will begin to work in accordance with these causes of higher planes, and create our own, rather than be subjected to the causes of this one.  This is so we may become Movers rather than Pawns in this so called Chessboard of Life.  In our next issue, we will dive further into this topic, exploring sacred geometry and it’s use as a form of mental causation and manifestation.

The Principle of Gender

‘This Principle embodies the truth that there is GENDER manifested in everything — the Masculine and Feminine Principles ever at work. This is true not only of the Physical Plane, but of the Mental and even the Spiritual Planes. On the Physical Plane, the Principle manifests as SEX, on the higher planes it takes higher forms, but the Principle is ever the same. No creation, physical, mental or spiritual, is possible without this Principle. An understanding of its laws will throw light on many a subject that has perplexed the minds of men. The Principle of Gender works ever in the direction of generation, regeneration, and creation. Everything, and every person, contains the two Elements or Principles, or this great Principle, within it, him or her. Every Male thing has the Female Element also; every Female contains also the Male Principle. If you would understand the philosophy of Mental and Spiritual Creation, Generation, and Re-generation, you must understand and study this Hermetic Principle. It contains the solution of many mysteries of Life.’ – The Kybalion

Here on planet Earth, we are very familiar with the many manifestations of Male and Female energy, or Duality and Unity consciousness.  The reason the Masculine and Feminine Principles are so integral to creation is because Source itself is a perfect union of these two concepts.  All created things are but variations of expression, intensity, and vibration between these two forms of consciousness.  The Male principle is the notion of Subjective  Self or the internal, causal, and intangible nature.  The Female principle is the notion of Objective Self, or the external, receptive, and  form of that inner nature.
Male is also the force of giving or push, and Female subsequently is the force of taking or pull.  Do not confuse these definitions with gender discrimination.  We as human beings are also a union of these two principles, as we possess an internal nature and an external form.  Even our minds are split into conscious (male) and subconscious/unconscious (female) and our brains into left brain (male) and right brain (female).  For more on this check out Spirit Science episode 4.
You’re probably wondering why Jordan says that Male energy is Focused and that the Female energy is Creative/Random.  That is just another way this principle manifests in the human psyche, and there are a multitude of others.  There is an even deeper level of understanding for the principle of Gender that will be revealed in the coming articles, so stay tuned.
Now, if we wish to ascend as human beings, the goal is to balance these energies within ourselves, allowing us to resonate with that same balance present in the Infinite Living Mind, giving way to conscious freedom.  This balance is largely achieved through, you guessed it, Unconditional Love, as this is an energy of freely giving and taking with all life through understanding that, as a fractal of Source consciousness, the external universe is also YOUR external form.

And there you have it, the 7 Hermetic Principles.  Study and Mastery of these fundamental laws will bring great wisdom as well as unbelievable power and freedom.  If you have any questions regarding this article or any other spiritual inquiries, feel free to email ryan.boyd@live.ca or inbox Ryan Boyd.  If you leave a comment below I can reply and you can also reach my Facebook that way.  I won’t be accepting friend requests unless we have extensive interaction, but I will always try to help with your questions.

Our next issue will begin with the spiritual framework that I have created in conjunction with these principles, formerly known as the 7 stages of Mystic Mastery.  I am going to change it for the sake of brevity and clarity; it will now be known as the 7 Phases of Mastery.  The first stage is called Geometry, and it will bring an understanding of the nature of Source and its manifestations through exploring Sacred Geometry, Mandalas, and an introduction to my own extension of these concepts known as Lightwebs.  This article series will be bi-weekly, so see you in two weeks!  Namaste, and thank you for reading.
